Stanhopea jenischiana is native to Colombia, Ecuador, Peru and Venezuela. They can be found growing on trees in cloud forests, seasonally dry, on mountain slopes and road cuts. Occasionally, however, plants grow on the surface of the ground in low-bush vegetation. Pleasantly fragrant, expect 4-6 10 cm blooms per inflorescence on reaching full maturity. The flowering season is Summer to early Autumn. Grow in cool to warm temperatures, dappled sunlight and ease back a bit on watering and feeding over winter.
The photo that shows on each available variant is indicative of the size plant that you will receive. Whilst the plant will arrive in a standard plastic pot, it should be transplanted into a basket-type pot so that the flowers can emerge from underneath.
